Graduation was the last event that we attended at Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary (CBTS). The very next day we began our travel back to the US. (In all, it takes 4 days of travel time.) Graduation is a fitting word picture for CBTS students and us. As the CBTS students graduated many jumped back into ministries they already had previously been a part of. Some were called to the pastorate for the first time; others were entering new ministry and missionary opportunities. They left school having improved their knowledge and skills substantially. Graduation wasn't an end, it marked a new beginning. Pictured left is Roman and Oliva at graduation.

Our life mirrors this sense of a new beginning, as well. Amy and I went to Cameroon to check if it would be a good fit for us. We went there to learn how to be effective ministers in the African context. We went to see the living and teaching conditions. Tim experimented with various teaching styles to see how the students learned best. Our trip was like taking a course on CBTS. We believe that we did well in the course and that we have "graduated" from it.

And now we desire to a make CBTS a permanent ministry, indeed, a new beginning. We believe that God is calling us to return to Ndu, Cameroon as career missionaries. The Baptist General Conference (now Converge Worldwide) agrees that we are prepared. In fact, we were appointed as career missionaries at the June 2008 biennial meeting.

Our hope and vision for a fruitful ministry is to raise-up Biblically qualified (see the books of 1&2 Timothy and Titus) ministers to serve Christ and His body, the church. Lord willing, Tim will partner with Nseimbo Johnson, a Cameroonian national, to create a Pastoral Care and Counseling department at CBTS.

Alongside of Tim, Amy looks forward to evangelizing and discipling young women, both at the seminary and in local villages. She was able to teach 25 female leaders in the local Young Women's group. She focused on prayer from J.I. Packer's book, Praying. Long term, Amy hopes to impart solid theology combined with practical wisdom specific to women.

Just as graduation from seminary doesn't mark the end of a minister's education, we still have much to learn. However, we also have many gifts that were confirmed during the past six month.

That's our vision, but here are some practicals: We'd love to get back to Cameroon in about a year and a half. In order to do that, we will meet with churches and individuals who will financially partner with us, sending us on our way!

Meanwhile, our previous employers graciously took us back (Amy—Presbyterian Homes, Tim—Bethlehem Baptist). Presently, we will also try and reconnect with you and report on our six month short-term experience.

Thank you for your partnership this past year. We needed and felt your prayers during difficult times; your support propelled us forward. From so many at CBTS, thank you for sending us in a manner worthy of the Gospel!

KNEELING NOTES

PRAISES

  • We want to celebrate you! Thank you for joining in our vision trip. Let us know if you want to see pictures. ;-)
  • Converge Worldwide, our mission agency, provided us with helpful training upon our return in June. And continues with on-going coaching as we move forward.
  • Rev. Felix Fimba, Director of the Evangelism, for Cameroon Baptist Conference is studying for his Doctorate at Bethel University. We were able to connect with him and he affirmed our desire to return long term.

PRAYERS

  • We will need to move by mid-September because the Jordans return to their apartment. We are subleasing from them like we did last year. Huge blessing for us!
  • October 25-26th we will participate in First Baptist Church, Cambridge Minnesota's Mission Conference. Pray that we would share creatively and effectively.
  • For our colleagues at CBTS who are still working with students to finalize their thesis'. The professors are tired and need rest before another school year begins.

Thank you for welcoming us back! We are glad to be back and look forward to sharing more about our next chapter with you.

Yours and His,

Tim and Amy Moline
