Dear Praying Partners,
Thanks so much for praying for our trip to Mexico City!
- The grand kids were so much fun, and God was gracious and granted us all health and safety. Grandpa (Eric) took the training wheels off Valerie and Alec's bikes, so watching them learn to ride without them was a highlight! We had a wonderful time with them, even though we ended up tuckered out!
- Eric's meeting went well with Converge missionary Dan Nelson (from Guadalajara) and Josué Alvaréz (one of the staff at the church where we worked in Mexico City for 11 years) as they planned for the first Church Planter Assessment Center to be held in Spanish in Mexico in November. It looks like at least twelve candidates will attend and we're looking for this event to help raise the bar for selecting church planters in ways that lead to much healthier Mexican church plants and churches in the future.
The two LeadNet meetings went really well. It is easy to let any new "idea" or ministry become another class or program when we want LeadNet to really minister to the women involved through interactive participation and through seeing ourselves and others on a deep heart level. It seemed that this meeting really helped to promote those goals, so thanks so much for your prayers!
We have a few new requests for you:
- This Saturday is the next COSECHA meeting of the Retool Kit process in Spanish. As the leaders of these six Hispanic churches come together again, please pray that the teaching on conflict and conflict resolution will give them helpful insights and strategies for dealing with the problems that have often ravaged their churches and seldom been resolved.
- On Saturday, October 11, we have a district-wide event for Latino women at Iglesia Emanuel here in Waukegan. Our theme will be to challenge the women to grow consistently in their daily walk with the Lord. Please ask God to direct each detail of the preparation and our time together so that much lasting fruit will be produced!
- We have several churches who are considering us to be part of their missions outreach. Please pray that this fall God will complete our support needs. We are currently at about 73% of what we need.
On a personal note, Janet will be traveling this weekend with a friend to her High School reunion in Hannibal, Mo. (if you want to know how many years, you'll have to write back and she will tell you!) Please pray for some good interaction with classmates and for safety in traveling.
Thanks for your faithful partnership with us in support and prayer. We are deeply grateful for each of you!
Serving Him with you,
Eric and Janet Johnson
