God has answered our joint prayers for the evangelism project our students participated in during the last weeks of July.
Thank God with us for His special answers !
Matthew, a needy man in his upper thirties, talked with one of our
students at a street market. After hearing about God's love for him,
Matthew asked in all sincerity, "Do you have to pay to have Jesus in
your life?" Our student continued talking with Matthew, prayed with him
and encouraged him to follow Jesus along with others at the Baptist
church in the city. |

Jacqueline, a 12-year-old girl with little idea of who Jesus is nor of His love for her, was given a Bible by one of our students. With delight she exclaimed that it was the first time in her life that she had ever held a Bible in her own hands! What joy she had in receiving that gift!
A 10-year-old boy who works as a brick-layer's helper? Yes! He has 8 brothers and sisters, some already in prison and others involved with drugs. During the week, one student developed a friendship and talked repeatedly with this young boy, encouraging him to follow Jesus. He expressed great interest but has many struggles. Please pray that he responds and becomes part of the church in this community to help him towards a new life in Jesus.
Without a doubt, God answered your prayers and used our 19 students in multiple ways during this week of holistic evangelistic outreach. They taught dental hygiene, gave haircuts, taught Bible classes, led children in afternoons of sports and recreational activities, cleaned bathrooms, prepared meals, washed dishes, mopped floors, did clown shows, presented evangelistic dramas, led worship during the evening evangelistic services and counseled and prayed with many interested in knowing Jesus. They served faithfully, cheerfully and humbly to show Jesus' love!
God also used this week of intensive ministry to reconfirm His purpose in our students' own lives. They have returned to classes dedicated to continue their preparation to serve as missionaries to the poor in Africa through the Volunteers Without Borders project of the Brazilian Baptist Convention.
Thank you for your prayers! God answered specifically and abundantly! Please pray for the Brazilian pastor of the small church doing follow-up in the community where this work was held. Continue to pray for these students as God is shaping their lives for His glory, blessing and preparing them to be a blessing!
