In response to the continuous growth of diverse people
groups coming to the United States, Converge/ BGC added cross-cultural missionaries to
its people group ministries work force. To date, over 200 Converge/ BGC cultural churches
that represent twenty-one people groups are reaching to first and second
generation immigrants across the country.
Experts say people who move - especially into a
foreign culture - are more open to the gospel than at any other time in their
lives. In response to this challenge, Converge/ BGC has deployed seven
cross-cultural missionaries to work among Latinos, Muslims, Haitian, Brazilians
and Japanese in the areas of church planting, leadership development,
evangelism and discipleship.
These ministries are under six
ministry directors who work with their respective leadership teams to multiply
and mobilize Converge/ BGC people group churches. To intensify effectiveness, seven
couples are deployed as ICM missionaries working in the areas of leadership
development, church planting and outreach workers to visitors in the US.
This
year Converge/BGC is also expanding its ministries to U.S. visitors and
international students through the World Reach ministry.
